This extract shows us that Mort wich is a writter is trying to write a new book. On the computer we can see the first lines where he talks about cheating. The last word is « I », the beggining of a new sentence, also showing that Mort Rainey has not moved on. He still has a mental block. To continue his life he must face this and writing can't help him to let it go.

The first encounter between Shooter and Rainey is really interresting.

Their conversation is filmed with the use of shots and reverse shots. This choice shows a distance between the characters, they are not really seen together .

As we have seen, shooter is an opposite version of Mort and we will see that their physical aspect shows us this idea.
