We are going to start with some informations about the movie to recontextualize the making of it.

Secret window is an adaptation of a Stephen King's book from 1990 named Secret Window, Secret Garden. The director of the movie is David Koepp wich is a good movie writer (Jurassic Park, Mission : Impossible , Spiderman and others). In his movies he likes to talk about the frontiers between reality and dreams and lost characters which are the themes that we can find during the movie.

The movie set took place in Quebec on the Sacacomie Lake but also Massawippi and Gale lakes and the town of North Hatley.

Mort Rainey and his alter ego John Shooter are in a world of psychosis and hallucination, reality is not their daily life. There are lots of Continuity problems but they probably are done in purpose to show how the character is lost.

And the useless information : Johnny Depp and director David Koepp share the same day of birth.
